Drinks - What's in them and How to Make them

Bar Terminology

Glasses
- Rocks Glass - typically 8 ozs usually used for any spirit on the rocks
- Collins Glass - a taller glass than rocks usually 10 ozs
- Up or Shot Glass - the up glass is typically used for shots
- Snifter or Brandy Snifter - is typically used for brandy, cordials or aperitifs
- Martini Glass - Kept cold and used for "UP" Martini's
- Hurricane Glass - A large glass shaped like the chimney of a Hurricane Lamp
- Squall Glass - Similar to the Hurricane but smaller
- Tulip or Daiquiri Glass - shaped like a tulip
Blending Methods
- Stir - the drink is stirred with a bar spoon (long handled spoon)
- Shake - drink is shaken in a mixing cup with a top
- Post Blending - Utilizing a "Post Blender" (Typically a Hamilton Beach Shake Blender) to froth the drink
- Base Blending - Utilizes a "Base Blender" (similar to a kitchen blender) to create a frozen drink

Amaretto Sour:
Amaretto (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Sour (to cover the ice roughly 4 ozs)
Ice in a Collins glass
Post blend or shake

Amaretto Stone Sour:
Amaretto (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Sour (2 ozs)
Orange Juice (2 ozs)
Ice in a Collins glass
Post blend or shake

Amaretto Rocks:
Amaretto (2 ozs)
Ice

Purple Hooter:
Chambord (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Vodka (3/4 oz) Sour Mix (to cover the ice roughly 4 ozs)
Ice in a Collins glass
Post blend or shake lightly

Sweet Tart:
Chambord (3/4 oz)
Bacardi Limon (3/4 oz)
Midori (3/4 2 oz)
Sour Mix (2 oz)
Ice in a Rocks glass

Electric Blue Lemonade:
Bacardi Limon (1 1/4 oz)
Blue Curacoa
Sour Mix (2 oz)
Lemonade (2 oz)
Hurricane Glass full of ice
Post blend

Midori Swizzler:
Midori (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Bacardi Limon - 3/4 oz
Pineapple Juice (3 ozs)
Cream (half & half) (1 ozs)
Ice in a Collins glass
Stir or lightly shake

Sweet Tart:
Midori (3/4 oz)
Chambord (3/4 ozs)
Bacardi Limon (3/4 oz)
Orange Juice (1 ozs)
Ice in a Collins glass

Crockadile Cooler:
Vodka (3/4 oz)
Midori (3/4 ozs)
Triple Sec (3/4 oz)
Sour (2 ozs)
Ice in a Squall glass
Post blend or shake

Manhatten:
Bourbon (2 oz)
Sweet Vermouth - (3/4 oz)
Ice in a rocks glass

Manhatten Perfect:
Bourbon (2 oz)
Sweet Vermouth - (1/2 oz)
Dry Vermouth - (1/2 oz)
Ice in a rocks glass

Martini:
Gin (2 oz)
Dry Vermouth (1/2 ozs)

Pour Vermouth over the ice and then drain off
add Gin and three olives
Serve in a Rocks glass

Light Rum (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Dark Rum - (3/4 oz)
Pineapple Juice (2 oz)
Orange Juice (2 oz)
Grenadine - (1/2 oz)

Midori (1 1/4 oz)
Orange Juice (2 oz)

Kamakazi:
Vodka (3/4 oz)
Triple Sec (3/4 ozs)
Roses Lime Juice (3/4 oz)

Ice in a rocks glass

Rum (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Strawberry Mix (4 oz)

Base Blend with ice
(enough liguid to cover ice)
Serve in Tulip or Daiquiri Glass

Frozen Lime Daiquiri:
Rum (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Sour Mix (3 1/2 oz)
Roses Lime Juice (1/2 oz)
Base Blend with ice
(enough liguid to cover ice)
Serve in Tulip or Daiquiri Glass

On the Rocks Strawberry Daiquiri:
Rum (one shot - 1 1/4 oz)
Strawberry Mix (3 oz)
Sour Mix (1 oz)

Post Blend with ice
Serve in Tulip or Daiquiri Glass
